Knitting the Loom Way

I was so excited when a friend of mine showed me her Knitting Loom. The popular loom is Provocraft's Knifty Knitter.

I just could not believe that she could produce gorgeously knitted items without needles!
This was especially excited because I cannot knit for the life of me. I can get the basics, but ask me to increase or decrease a stitch or circular knit and I am at a loss!

Crochet has always come easier to me and most knitters are the opposite.

Well as soon as I tried out the loom she had I went out and bought myself a set!

I bought the set pictured above and immediately started thinking of all the patterns I could make with them!
I tried searching for Knitting loom patterns and found that there just are not that many out there. The ones that are out there I really did not feel like knitting up. I have already started a great cocoon pattern for baby and am super excited to get it up and (hopefully) free!

Anyone else have a loom set and just love it?

  1. I have the long set of Knifty Knitters as well as a round set. I knit my baby girl a hat with a round one, and that's the only thing I've made. Compared to actual knitting, I do love loom knitting because I also can't knit with needles either! I have to confess, I like crocheting better, but that's probably because like you I haven't found many patterns that I really loved. I did buy a book of patterns for the Knifty Knitters, but I never got around to doing any of them. I've never really been good at making up my own patterns. I will have to take a look in my book again and see if there's anything I want to give a try. I'm looking forward to seeing the patterns you've come up with!

  4. Sarah,
I am looking forward to creating patterns with it. I have found only a handful of patterns like you and it seems sad as SO much can be done with it!
