Stitch Markers...
I think one of the most annoying crochet tool yet! I have tried everything under the sun and have still not found one that I love.
My "favorite" are safety pins, probably because I hibernate projects a lot and they keep my spot. I have tried before to get some custom ones made. (I cannot tell you how many times I have stuck myself with those darn pins) It never works out though.

I have used the circular plastic ones, paper clips, you name it I have probably tried it.
What do you use?
I like using the little circular ones, because I kept stabbing myself with safety pins. :P I have the orange and teal ones as well, but I don't like locking them. I like being able to add and remove the markers with one hand.
ReplyDeleteI make lever clip stitch markers that work for me very well for both crochet and knitting...and in a pinch, they look cute as earrings.
ReplyDeleteYou can find them online (tomorrow) at etsy.com/shop/inskein I am not intending to advertise my shop, I only found that these work for me, and I want to share them. I just sold my last set of this style, so I made some today, I must post them, but can't until tomorrow afternoon.
I know this sounds pretty amateur, but I just cut a different color string of yarn and loop it through the chain. When I'm finished I just pull it out. That way I don't have to keep track of markers, buy more, or get poked.
ReplyDeleteI tried that too, I didn't like it. I know it works for so many people too. I just find that the string gets in the way.
ReplyDeleteI use a new metal bobby pin, (for your hair), it slips right onto the stitch and stays in place. I have tried all that were mentioned, and this is my favorite.
ReplyDeletePipe cleaners cut off a piece of one insert where needed and bend --and you can bend thethe tips over so the wire doesn't catch or poke you works good
ReplyDeleteI'm really late to this because I just found your blog but I do as Dawn does with bobby pins.
ReplyDeleteI just tried using a twist-tie and it works great! Not to mention I always have a lot on hand from trash bags
